Received from Dr. Nicole Duffee at AALAS: AALAS will administer a job analysis survey in February 2005. This survey will provide a wealth of information to assist in enhancing AALAS educational resources and certification exams, both for technician and manager certification programs. The survey will be distributed to a broad segment of the AALAS membership - AALAS-certified technicians/technologists, supervisors, and managers, and it will ask the participants to verify the tasks performed and knowledge required for each level of certification. The survey will be Web-based, so an invitation and instructions will be sent out by email or letter to everyone eligible to take the survey. We would like to ask your help in increasing awareness about the survey, so that as many people as possible can be ready to respond to this survey when it is launched. A high turn-out in responses will be valuable to help in updating the certification content and the related education materials. I am contacting you at this time to request your help in disseminating information about the 2005 Job Analysis Survey. To give you a brief background on the process of developing the 2005 survey... In October, several members participated in a Webex teleconference to help in the early phase of developing this survey. And then in December, still more members attended a meeting in Memphis, with the result that we are now on track for releasing the survey in February. The general information on the JAS web page will be available in the public domain of the AALAS web site. This JAS webpage will be linked from the AALAS home page. In the January issue of CT will be a list of names of all members who participated in a Webex teleconference and the task force meeting in Memphis - these groups worked very hard on their tasks and both activities contributed significantly to our development of the survey questions.
